On June 27th, our tour of the National September 11 Memorial was postponed due to a construction accident on the World Trade Center construction site. As promised, we re-scheduled our tour for Thursday, September 27, 2012.

Westfield finalized an agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for a $1.25 billion joint venture in the World Trade Center's retail project. Westfield will provide development, leasing and operating expertise for this 352,000 square feet of designed retail space for 4 WTC, the WTC Transportation Hub which is a central stop for 13 train lines, 3 WTC and above ground retail along Church and Dey Streets. Westfield is also entitled to operate another 90,000 square feet of retail space among the 8.8 million square feet of office space under construction.
On June 27, Westfield gave the NYNJCSC gave an overview of this amazing and iconic mixed-use site. The event was hosted at the Millenium Hilton Hotel in New York City with a birds-eye view of the World Trade Center site.

The Annual New York/New Jersey Council of Shopping Center's Holiday Meeting was held at Il Villaggio in Carlstadt, New Jersey, only minutes from the Paramus shopping area.
Our holiday meeting is always a great networking opportunity to visit with old and new friends, former associates and people you would like to meet. Last year was our first year at Il Villaggio, a grand facility with festive decor and yet an intimate setting that fostered good conversations and enhanced distant friendships. An incredible selection of hot and cold hors d'oeurves, a tasty buffet dinner and delectable desserts along with live music completed the festive occasion.

The Outlet Collection│Jersey Gardens, owned by Glimcher, is the largest outlet shopping center in New Jersey, featuring over 200 top brand-name outlet and discount stores all under one roof. The project opened in 1999 and has become a major tourist attraction.
The Outlet Collection│Jersey Gardens began its renovation last summer. The project includes new flooring, interior rails and light fixtures as well as new concourse furniture, interior signage and restrooms. In addition, a new dining emporium will bring in more authentic dining options. Exterior work will also be completed to incorporate the new name and branding at all entry points. The renovations will be completed by Fall 2013.
The Outlet Collection's has one of the largest rooftop systems in North America. The 4.8MW solar array is comprised of more than 15,000 high efficiency SunPower panels and generates enough power to offset 11 percent of the mall's electrical consumption.

Simon Property Group transformed Nanuet Mall into The Shops at Nanuet, a vibrant open-air town center featuring brand new shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The $150 million project will be approximately 760,000 square feet, much of which is built from the ground up. In addition to the original mall, anchors of Macy's and Sears, Fairway Market, Regal Cinemas, and 24-Hour Fitness have joined the property as junior anchors.
The property successfully opened in October 2013.

Garden State Plaza underwent a $150 million dollar enhancement project that delivered a new, state-of-the-art parking deck in November 2013 and approximately 20 new specialty shops, restaurants and amenities in March of 2014.

We were delighted to celebrate the holidays with our memebers and their guests at Maritime Parc, a spectacular setting with exceptional cuisine located inside Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.
Our event space boasted one of the greatest vantage points from which to marvel at the panoramic views of downtown Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
What did the runway shows of Versace, Armani, Chanel and Marc Jacobs have in common with our holiday event? The same award winning chef!
This festive night of networking was enhanced by the announcement of the new NYNJCSC president, Michael Hauser's famous treasurer's report, a lively DJ and a photo booth for fun group pics with friends, staff and loved ones!

NYNJCSC members learned first-hand how the enhancement and expansion of this landmark center will upgrade every aspect of the shopping experience. Improvements will positively impact how shoppers arrive, park, shop, dine and experience the center. This multi million dollar investment will bring the property to a new level.
Built in 1985 with additional retail space added in 1993, 1994 and 1998, the Center will be expanding with a net gross leasable area of 60,000 square feet bringing additional stores to the Center and over 900,000 square feet. The food court will be relocated in 2015 and renamed Market Hall providing an architecturally distinct building at the entrance of the center. New retail space will replace the current food court and will feature prominent designer brands.

Our annual Holiday Event was an evening filled fantastic cuisine, cocktails and conversation. McLoone's Boathouse in West Orange, NJ, well known for its incredible waterfront views and cutting edge menu, was a wonderful place to celebrate the holidays with old and new friends, former associates and industry professionals.
